Goldenbook Cardigan - PDF Pattern

$8.00

The Saggy Baggy Elephant, Tawny Scrawny Lion, Poky Little Puppy – since the first Little Golden Book was released in 1942, these titles and many more have become classics read by multiple generations. But as iconic as the stories have become, the most iconic part of these books, which were designed to be accessible and affordable for all families, is that distinctive golden spine, shining out from bookshelves across America.

A long band of colorwork, inspired by that golden spine, forms a statement collar on an open-front cardigan. Knit from the top-down, the pattern uses the contiguous method to form a well-fitting one-piece yoke and is finished with clean folded hems.

Sweater body is worked seamlessly from the top-down using the contiguous sleeve method developed by Susie Myers, SusieM on Ravelry (http://www.ravelry.com/ people/SusieM). The collar band is knit in the round from the bottom up in two pieces (one for each side), which are grafted in the center and then seamed to the body.

Sleeves and body are finished with a folded hem.

Size

Bust Circumference*: 30.75 (32.5, 34.75, 36.5)[38.25, 41, 44.25](49.25, 52.5, 56.5)”/78 (82.5, 88.5, 92.5)[97, 104, 112.5](125, 133.5, 143.5) cm

*Circumference assumes a gap between the front flaps of .75 (.75, .75, 1.25)[1.25, 1.5, 1.75](2.5, 2.5, 3]”/ 2 (2, 2, 3)[3, 3.5, 4.5](6.5, 6.5, 7.5)cm

For best fit, select the back shoulder width that is approx. 1-2”/2.5-5cm wider than your actual back shoulder width measurement (measured across shoulder blades). Before

you begin to knit, carefully review the schematic. See FIT TIPS in italics throughout the pattern for ways to adjust the bust and sleeves after the shoulders are constructed.

Sample shown is in size 44.25”/112.5 cm on a 44”/112cm bust (.25”/.5 cm of positive ease).
